HAR files always incomplete when exported from page where video is playing

Reported by jbeglei...@pch.com, Jul 18 2017

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_10_5) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/59.0.3071.115 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Log into pch.com
2. Visit http://www.pch.com/slotsgameplay/slotsgames/non-tournament-game/wild-west-winnings
3. Spend your coins by spinning until the "More Coins" button becomes available
4. Open Chrome Developer Tools and go to Network tab
5. Click "More Coins"
6. When the video loads and begins playing, attempt to export a HAR file with content
7. Observe that HAR file is truncated improperly

What is the expected behavior?
HAR file should be complete

What went wrong?
HAR file is truncated, often at the same place. If you take multiple HAR files they succeed at times, fail at others (but mostly fail).

Did this work before? N/A

Chrome version: 59.0.3071.115 Channel: stable
OS Version: OS X 10.10.5
Flash Version:

I have four HAR files all taken within a minute or so during this process, 2 while the ad was playing, 1 immediately after the ad stopped, and one once the modal window disappeared, feel free to contact me to see these.

Thanks! I've found that exporting twice somewhat works. If you export a second time the HAR file still won't open in the viewer, but the JSON looks complete. Attached are an example of a broken and a "working" file (keeping in mind that the working file still won't open in a HAR viewer).

@caseq,

I did a deep dive of a damaged HAR file and found that wherever there are very long response bodies in the content section, it cuts off lines below it, sometimes combining them, or ending up in strange places. Hope that helps!

@allada any update on expected timing for this bug?

Comment 9 by allada@chromium.org, Jul 28 2017

I looked into this and found that the problem is actually caused by a bug on our side having to deal with JSON parsing and utf8. I am a bit behind, but I'll try and have a patch for this in a week or two.

Hello, I'm seeing this in a response body containing jquery.
