Hiding Canvas using back face visibility not working

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.2; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/59.0.3071.115 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. check https://stackoverflow.com/questions/45141603/flipping-animation-in-div-not-hiding-canvas-expected-behavior-is-hide-canvas?noredirect=1#comment77257201_45141603
2. use snippet to see the demo
3. click blue line on left most part

What is the expected behavior?
canvas should be hidden

What went wrong?
canvas is not hidden

Did this work before? N/A 

Chrome version: 59.0.3071.115  Channel: stable
OS Version: 6.2 (Windows 8)

Tested this issue on Windows-10 using chrome latest stable #59.0.3071.115 by following steps mentioned in the original comment. After clicking on blue line from left observed there was an animation.

Reporter@ Could you please let us know what's the actual and expected behavior for this issue, Observing similar behavior on other browser as well.

Comparing against FireFox and Chrome can certainly see the canvas should be hidden sending over to the canvas team to triage.
