Caret blinks while holding backspace instead of being forced to be visible |
||||||||
Issue descriptionGoogle Chrome 59.0.3071.115 (Official Build) (64-bit) Revision 3cf8514bb1239453fd15ff1f7efee389ac9df8ba-refs/branch-heads/3071@{#820} OS Linux (Also Chrome OS ToT at M61.) 1. Focus a textarea. 2. Type some characters. Note that each time you hit a key, the caret becomes visible and the blink timer is restarted. While a key is held, the caret remains visible. 3. Now hit and/or hold the backspace key. The caret isn't forced to be visible for each key event (unlike when other keys are typed). Instead, it continues blinking at its normal rate. If you're holding backspace to delete a long run of blank spaces, it's impossible to tell where the caret is while it's in the hidden phase of its blinking cycle. Is there a particular reason we don't immediately show the caret on backspace like we do for other key events? Also note that this is inconsistent with Views: if I type a bunch of spaces into the omnibox and then hold the backspace key, the caret remains visible while I'm deleting.

Route to Blik>Compositing since it works fine on Windows. It seems compositing related instead of paint invalidation, I guess all platform uses same invalidation path.

Painting bug, I suppose, although maybe more related to input? I'll own this and look for a simple fix.

Editing controls the caret blinking code.

Route to Blink>Paint, since caret blinking code works as same as all platforms and it works fine for Mac and Windows. There are Linux/Chrome OS specific code patch in paint.
