Chrome Touch Bar items don't appear on my 10.13 Touch Bar Mac

Project Member Reported by shrike@chromium.org, Jul 13 2017

Issue description

Chrome Version: 61.0.3155.0
OS: macOS 10.13

What steps will reproduce the problem?
(1) Run Chrome on a Touch Bar Mac running macOS 10.13

What is the expected result?
Items should appear in the Touch Bar when Chrome is the active app

What happens instead?
No items appear in the Touch Bar except for default items

Is this possible a Finch configuration issue?

I don't think so? I didn't submit anything to Finch.
What if you turn on the Touch Bar flag in chrome://flags?

Comment 3 by shrike@chromium.org, Jul 13 2017

I checked and it was set to Enabled. When I set it to Default and restarted the Touch Bar items appeared. They were still there after setting it back to Enabled. As I mentioned, this was in Canary.

In M60 beta (60.0.3112.66) the Touch Bar does not appear, and there is no chrome flag - I'm guessing that flag was added to M61. But the Touch Bar should be appearing in M60, correct?

Yep. Quick question, what if you show the bookmark bubble (non secondary MD UI)?
I think I have an idea on what's up

Showing the Bookmarks bubble (non-Views version) doesn't result in any change - the Touch Bar items still do not appear.
Okay, never mind then. Time to do some research

I can't reproduce this issue on 10.13
It works for M60 and onward

Since you're around tomorrow, can you show it to me?

I had a offline meeting with shrike@ and it looks like this is not a Chrome issue. The touch bar items for other applications also fail to show up.

I just checked my laptop and it looks like after a long period of time, I can reproduce the issue. The same thing also happens: none of the touch bar stuff shows up. Anyway, after rebooting the laptop, the touch bar issues goes away.

Since this isn't an issue with Chrome, I'm removing this release blocker. I'm keeping this open to track it. Feel free to make any necessary changes
