Chromium closes abruptly when using extensions

Reported by tomasc...@gmail.com, Jul 8 2017

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Ubuntu Chromium/59.0.3071.109 Chrome/59.0.3071.109 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Open chromium with extensions
2.
3.

What is the expected behavior?
It opens and I can browse normally

What went wrong?
Sometimes it closes unexpectedly

Crashed report ID:

How much crashed? Whole browser

Is it a problem with a plugin? N/A

Did this work before? Yes

Chrome version: 59.0.3071.109 Channel: stable
OS Version: Mint 18.1, kernel 4.10
Flash Version:

This is better described in this question:

https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/375489/cant-open-chromium-anymore

Basically starting a few days ago Chromium started closing out of nowhere. Sometimes it closes immediately after launched and sometimes it takes hours. It works if I start it with `chromium-browser --disable-extensions` but that doesn't tell me much.

In case it's not clear which particular item in an a known area causes the problem,
the usual approach is divide-and-conquer debugging:
0. let the range [A, B] to be [1, number_of_extensions]
1. disable extensions in the first half of the range, try reproducing the issue
2. if the issue persists, let the new range to be [A, A + range_length/2], go to step 1
3. if the issue is gone, disable the currently enabled extensions,
enable the other half of the current bisect range,
let the new range to be [A + range_length/2, B],
   go to step 1
Well, that's the thing. I don't actually have any extensions! I'm sorry I didn't mention it sooner but it completely slipped my mind. But even so, the issue doesn't happen when I have the extensions disabled.

I see you're running the chromium-browser that ships with Ubuntu. Could you either
1. File a bug with Canonical. (It's impossible for Google to get crash reports with Chromium)
2. Try with google-chrome-stable and if it still crashes, post the crash ID

google-chrome-stable doesn't crash. I've tried several times.

About 2 days ago there was an update available for chromium that I installed. Since then I haven't had a problem, so I guess they fixed it.
