Able to reproduce the issue using #59.0.3071.115 on Mac 10.12.5 Observed the slowness on page loading. Observing the same behavior since M45. Hence considering this issue as Non-Regression issue and Untriaged to get more inputs from dev. Note: 1. Issue is seen in M61 as well. 2. Issue is not seen in Windows and Linux. Thanks!!

This is due to a combination of font with expensive font features and the way chrome shapes text. Disabling kerning and ligatures (which is on by defualt in Chrome) would fix it as would switching to another font. It'll be addressed for real with LayoutNG (issue 591099) but that is about a year out. Until then there isn't much we can do from the the chrome side but as explained above there are a number of workarounds. |
