[Forum Canary] color glitches and artifacts on youtube |
||||||||||||||||||||||
Issue descriptionChrome Version: M61 OS: Windows What steps will reproduce the problem? (1) Visit youtube (2) Play a video What is the expected result? http://i.imgur.com/TN5hAkM.png What happens instead? http://i.imgur.com/dt3M4va.png User comments in Forum https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!msg/chrome/ppxV8pEkl-8/DPE3DrpHEQAJ I am experiencing color glitches and artifacts on youtube. Tested with other browsers, everything is normal. Chrome Canary - 61.0.3149.0 (64 bit) http://i.imgur.com/Vm2UnhC.png http://i.imgur.com/FXUmuxG.png http://i.imgur.com/bJe5qL4.png The glitches don't show if I pause the video so I recorded my screen. https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!msg/chrome/FF87JlbnSts/rFWTyMBjEQAJ Updated to 61.0.3149.0 this morning and I am experiencing weird tearing of blues and reds in all videos now both normal sized and fullscreen. I have even verified if I pause during the tearing, the torn colors will "catch" up really fast to the normal frame, even if paused. Reminds me of what old 3d movies used to look like.

I couldn't repro this bug on my Win7+Chrome 61.0.3153.0 (canary). I am using NVidia Quadro display card, played multiple random YouTube video. reporter@, can you provide chrome://media-internals log? what is your display card? add compositing team.

jbauman@, has anything changed recently in who we present videos? swap chains, etc.

There shouldn't be any differences in the last week or so, but before that there are two possible changes - one is that we can use overlays, another involves delaying the copying of video in some circumstances. We should get about:gpu from the affected users to see what's happening on their systems.

Delaying the copying sounds highly suspicious. This is most likely a dupe of https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=738078 (which has about:gpu in it)

Based on that about:gpu, delayed copy should be disabled because it's an NVIDIA GPU (which had other types of color-related issues).

It would be good if we could get a bisect as well.

Expanding this bug to Android as well. I experienced it while watching embedded youtube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nH5rNAdEKRc

jain..@ on the android repro, would you be willing to use chrome://media-internals to send the info for the media player? i'd like to see if it's hw or sw decode that's affected.

Rechecked this issue on Windows 10 using chrome version 61.0.3163.39 and Canary version 62.0.3185.0. Unable to reproduce it on Youtube.com. Played the video on both normal and full screen mode. Graphic driver was NVIDIA Quadro k600 Thanks.!

This was probably a dupe of issue 738928 which was fixed a while back. I'm closing as WontFix per #15. |
