crashes when /dev/shm not mounted

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686 (x86_64)) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Ubuntu Chromium/58.0.3029.110 Chrome/58.0.3029.110 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. run it in a system / container w/o /dev/shm mounted
2. 
3. 

What is the expected behavior?
print out a proper message that /dev/shm is necessary 

What went wrong?
It just kills itself, telling it failed to allocate memory.

Somewhere in the net, I've found reports showing that it actually used to print proper error messages.
