When a site is added to home screen on Android O, but the site does not provide an icon in the manifest, we auto-generate one as a rounded square, which is then placed within a circle and looks bad. See attachment.

As a suggestion off the top of my head, I imagine we should find a way to make the icon simply a full colored circle with letter inside it?

Note it is unclear to me what happens if an icon is provided in other meta tag
