No Gmail auto-fill in tablet mode (with VK)

Auto populate in gmail doesn't work in tablet mode when using virtual keyboard. I can flip to laptop mode and email suggestions work, but not with VK.

When you say auto-fill, do you mean the Chrome auto-fill or the Contacts bar Auto-Complete?
