Issue descriptionDevice name: Samsung Galaxy TAB Active From "Settings > About Chrome" Application version: New Chrome version 58 Operating system: Android We have an application developed in .NET which runs in Google Chrome where we scan a barcode into a field on the .NET page (to save having to type in the number equivalent to the code). Up until the release of the version 58 we had no issues with this ...... since version 58 the number being returned by the scan is not what is expected. We have eliminated the scan software from the issue since it has not changed and continues to scan the correct number into ...... for example Notepad or Wordpad ..... correctly.

In my environment version 59 has occurred. Even if I used the barcode scanner application up to 58, I could input without problems. However, even after reading the barcode from version 59 onwards, characters are no longer being input.

Alex - do you have any idea about recent changes that made this happen?

Just wondering if someone can respond on this with a suggested plan of action please ........ we are getting severe grief on this from our users and ideally we would like to rollback to a previous version of Chrome but this is proving impossible without some helpful suggestions.

This bug report doesn't have enough information to be actionable. If you can provide some sample HTML on jsbin.com and the exact way to enter barcode (for example, what model of barcode scanner? how is it used with Android?), I could take a look.

Here is an example : http://output.jsbin.com/kozeteheyu I am using a Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2016). The Chrome version is 59.0.3071.125 I use Ucom Free Barcode Scanner (1.4.0) as an input. You can scan any barcode you want, it doesn't fill the field.

OK, requesting bisect for repro in #8.

I am able to scan bar code using chrome 59.0.3071.125. Here are my steps: 1. Install Ucom Free Barcode Scanner 2. Change Keyboard to Ucom Barcode Scanner 3. Launch Chrome, tap on omnibox and scan any barcode. Barcode is scanned and associated text appears on the urlbar.

The steps in #10 were incorrect, the repro involves inputting text into a webpage form field, not the URL-bar. I bisected to http://crrev.com/463390 "Focus/Blur contents when window focus changes". The Ucom barcode scanner keyboard switches opens a camera activity, which presumably is causing the focus problem.
