Chrome displays a message "download failed due to unknown issue"

Reported by micoames...@gmail.com, Jun 28 2017

Issue description

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Prepare an a href tag and set the href value to a url generated from createObjectURL(<blob>)
2. Download the file
3.

What is the expected behavior?
The message "download failed .." should not be displayed as the file is successfully downloaded. This can be checked on the downloads folder.

What went wrong?
Google Chrome for Android around version 58 installed on Android Nougat 7 and later shows the error message when there is a blob url file download.

Did this work before? Yes Android 6 and earlier versions

Chrome version: 58.0.3029.110 Channel: n/a
OS Version: 7 and above
Flash Version:

The attached images are from an emulator. This also happens on an actual device. Reported from Google Pixel, Pixel XL devices, and Samsung S8 . As long as they are running Android 7 and recent version of chrome.

Trying a solution of base64 string is not accepted as it does not process files properly when the file size is around or greater than 2mb

Just an update for this ticket. Had the chance to test chrome beta v.60 on an actual device and this issue is now encountered anymore. Will try and check whether this still exist on the non beta version 60 for google chrome android
