Do you have an application in the play store that demonstrates this behaviour?

no, I found this issue during development. It works fine on API version prior to Nougat, and also works fine when system lock is off on Nougat.

I think it would be helpful to have a more detailed explanation on how to reproduce. Maybe attach an app? That would be helpful for debugging this issue and showing how the WebView is exactly used..

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.buzzvil.honeyscreen.zz It's a lockscreen app running above system lockscreen. If you login and screen off/on, lockscreen will be shown above system lock. swipe left, webview will be shown and if system lock is set above Android N, text input in webview doesn't work.

Android N is when we added credential encrypted vs. device encrypted Contexts (https://source.android.com/security/encryption/ and https://developer.android.com/training/articles/direct-boot.html). evan.hong@ what kind of context is your app running in? WebView should only accept CE contexts, but I think your app would require a DE context (so it wouldn't be able to even use WebView).
