the favicon for google.com does not look right on the Chrome new tab page

Reported by billdill...@gmail.com, Jun 24 2017

Issue description

Example URL:

Steps to reproduce the problem:
On the new tab page, the favicon for google.com is grey, which is the same color as the background for the new tab page, and it doesn't look right, there's no contrast. Other top sites use white for their new tab page symbol so they stand out and are more clearly defined on Chrome's new tab page, and so should google.com. Can someone contact the relevant people for this issue? Screenshot is attached, on the left is how it currently looks, and on the right is how it SHOULD look

(There's not really a bug tracker for google.com and it's also an issue involving Chrome so that's why I filed it here)

What is the expected behavior?

What went wrong?
see above

Does it occur on multiple sites: N/A

Is it a problem with a plugin? N/A

Did this work before? N/A

Does this work in other browsers? N/A

Thanks for the report!

This is a problem with google.com. A fix is being discussed with relevant people.
Great! Oh and don't forget, the issue is also present in the tab card view too (see attach screenshot). Please also bring this to their attention

Thanks for the report. I'll close this bug since this isn't related to Chrome and we've already escalated that to Google Search.
