Issue description

Automated tests for the below commit have been missing.Would it be possible to add test coverage to avoid regressions in future?

Status: WontFix (was: Assigned)

It'd be very difficult to have an automated test to set up a Hangouts call, Cast to it, and verify that it works. So our weekly manual tests cover this instead.
