Issues about direction at table cell level |
||||||||||||||||||||||
Issue descriptionWe should be able to specify writing-mode and direction for a cell independently with other cells and row/row-group/table, to specify the inline and block directions within the cell. This bug tracks the previous "FIXME: http://webkit.org/b/79272" in our code: https://cs.chromium.org/search/?q=webkit.*79272&type=cs. webkit.org/b/79272 is about wrong collapsed border rendering caused by this bug and maybe also bug 727173 , so it doesn't exactly equal to this bug.

bug 409155 has covered 'writing-mode'. Let's track 'direction' with this bug.

The issues are mainly about the logical directions (start, end, before, after) of collapsed borders, which for now we use the table row's direction which may be different from the cell's direction. https://chromium-review.googlesource.com/c/546678 will fix part of the issue by mapping cell style borders from cell's direction to row/table's direction, but it won't fix the mismatch of logical directions of cell's collapsed borders and cell's logical directions.

FYI these are WIP CLs for this bug and bug 409155 which I'm unlikely to continue soon: https://chromium-review.googlesource.com/c/chromium/src/+/549978 https://chromium-review.googlesource.com/c/chromium/src/+/549795
