Click and hold on the Secure or Not Secure button in the Omnibox and the title is cut off

Reported by daniel.j...@coastdigital.co.uk, Jun 20 2017

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_12_5) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/58.0.3029.110 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Go to the Omnibox on any page with a title longer than roughly 11 characters long.
2. Click and hold the Secure/Not Secure button in the Omnibox
3. The title will appear of the current page just above your cursor but will be cut off after about the 11th or 12th character.

What is the expected behavior?
When you click and hold the security button, it should show the full title of the current page but at the moment it cuts the title off. I tried various different titles and it cuts them off at different lengths. Some titles were cut off after the 20th character, others were cut off as low as the 11th character.

What went wrong?
The title is cut off when you click and hold the button. It should show the full title or at least show an ellipses to convey it's been trimmed.

Did this work before? N/A

Chrome version: 58.0.3029.110 Channel: stable
OS Version: OS X 10.12.5
Flash Version:

I wasn't able to take a screenshot of the actual issue because it requires a click hold mouse action but I've included a screenshot of the button I'm referring to. I'm not sure if this happens in olders versions either.

Yes, that's what I'm seeing although it looks slightly different as in the above video the text fades out whereas I'm seeing the text completely cut off as if the string was trimmed after a certain character.
Components: -UI UI>Browser>Omnibox
This looks like intentional behavior to me, but I have no idea who is the "authority" on this topic. Adding Omnibox component and hoping.

Yes, this feature is meant for dragging URLs (to create shortcuts, for example). The fact that it doesn't show the whole title is intentional. I also see a fade, though the fade looks pretty fast, as in maybe the fade is fading into a whitespace character...

Leaving as Untriaged so the Mac triage folks glance it is and can check whether this is working to spec. (I expect it is but am not sure.)

For the record, Linux truncates the text using ellipses, not fading. This might be another example of inconsistency between platforms. I heard pschaffner@ and srahim@ who are working on a Chrome standard for truncation; CCing them.
