autotest: power_*: capture residency, tx power & payload statistics of wireless networking |
|
Issue descriptionWould like to add any and all useful statistics from wireless technologies (wifi, cellular, BT, NFC) to our suite of battery life test keyvals to better understand these subsystem impact and or variation on workload. I'm sure many of these stats are available today (sysfs) and may already be part of networking/wifi/BT autotest environment. Lets discuss: 1. Which are the most vital for each wireless tech. My stab ... - residency: connectivity (connected, unconnected), state(active, idle, off), power modes? - payloads (total_bytes_tx, rx) - throughput - tx power setting 2. How / if they're exposed in current cros system 3. How / if we should add to autotest in general & power_* tests. Let me know your thoughts on exposing these types of keyval stats.

I'd have to dig into if autotests are capturing this and if there is a general API / abstraction to get these. So far, I've only used the following ad-hoc: - iw wlan0 link - iw wlan0 station dump - iwconfig (only one that gives the tx-power max setting I think) These contain tx/rx packets and retries statistics, but unfortunately they seem to reset every so often - I'll need to understand what the reset triggers are (apart from the obvious ones like connected to a new AP). |
