cannot login to chromebook to main-account after upgrade to latest dev version

Reported by trau...@donauwert.com, Jun 14 2017

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; CrOS x86_64 9647.0.0) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/61.0.3129.0 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. upgrade to 61.0.3129.0
2. reboot and enter your password for your (main) account / layout of login screen changed (new layout)
3. error: password cannot be validated (free translation)
4. try again a couple of times with same error
5. some time later you are guided to a different (web style) looking login page which accepts your password and sends an sms to your phone.
6. once you entered the code, you are returned to the login-screen AGAIN, instead of being logged in

What is the expected behavior?
enter password and get logged in...

What went wrong?
see steps above

However, if i login to a different google-account on the device, it works.. does it have to do with two-factor-authentication? the other google account has this feature turned off...

Did this work before? N/A

Chrome version: 61.0.3129.0 Channel: dev
OS Version: 9647.0.0
Flash Version:

p.s. chromebook is successfully connected to the internet before step 3
p.s.

ad step 4: the redirect to a different login page happens after the fourth time the (correct) password was entered and rejected.

Does anyone also have this problem?

i hesitated to do a powerwash of the device as i don't want to loose the local data without backup...
