PDF tab is blank when first re-focused in its window

Chrome Version: 59.0.3071.93 (Official Build) beta (64-bit)
OS: ChromeOS (Chromebook Pro)

What steps will reproduce the problem?
(1) Download a PDF to Downloads.
(2) Click to open it.
(3) Switch to a different tab in the same window.
(4) Switch back to the PDF tab.
(5) Switch away again.
(6) Switch back to the PDF tab again.

What is the expected result?

At step #4 the PDF tab will be blank. At #6 it will display normally again.

Expect that the tab displays the content consistently.

Unable to attach file containing about:gpu contents, because crbug errors out :-/

I've noticed the same problem in 60.0.3112.24 (Official Build) beta (64-bit)

As far as I can tell, this happens to any pdf file opened in Chrome. I can reproduce by doing the following:

(1). Open a tab and go to this URL: https://patents.google.com/patent/US8523254B2/en
(2). Open another tab to the right of the tab in (1) and go to this URL: https://patentimages.storage.googleapis.com/pdfs/2f2876f4d8db2849fff2/US8523254.pdf
(3). Switch to the tab in (1).
(4). Switch back to the tab in (2).
(5). Switch back to the tab in (1).
(6). Switch back to the tab in (2).

At step (4) the pdf tab is blank. At step (6) is displays normally.
