Show battery status in full screen mode when using Citrix Receiver

Project Member Reported by alu...@chromium.org, Jun 9 2017

Issue description

Description:
In Full screen Kiosk mode users need a battery indicator to be able to know when they need to plug-in, save their work before batteries run out and there session ends abruptly.

Citrix Receiver should display the battery status or Chrome should have some notification of battery level.

Use case:
Chromebooks VDI users who use Citrix Receiver in kiosk or within full-screen mode in a signed in session

Motivation:

Better user experience for users. Chromebooks have a long battery life which users like, and keeps the mobile, but without a battery indicator within their primary application or desktop interface they have to be checking for battery, if if they are locked in full-screen kiosk they don't have a way to know the battery level.

Existing workarounds: None.

I think Citrix should use the Battery status web API in their Chrome app. We normally don't show any notification in kiosk mode as it may break the mode. We do not have a corresponding Chrome API to retrieve battery status.

rkc@ thoughts?

Agreed. The call may or may not work from Chrome apps currently. Toni, can you confirm (once you have cycles)?
