First run after updating Chrome shows a corrupted profile message |
||||||||||||||||||||||
Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/59.0.3071.86 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Be a very heavy user of Chrome for a few years and have a huge one-gigabyte-or-more profile. 2. Use Chrome. 3. Force a major version update by going to chrome:chrome. 4. Click on "Relaunch" once update is done. What is the expected behavior? A working browser without any hiccup. What went wrong? A corrupted profile message. Did this work before? Yes Cannot tell, sorry. A year or so Chrome version: 59.0.3071.86 Channel: stable OS Version: 6.1 (Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2) Flash Version: From issue 455749 comments 186 - It just happened again when Chrome updated to version 59. I did send feedback, but I cannot find the issue on Monorail. Perhaps it opens an internal issue of some sort. The issue was automatically populated with the following corrupted feature list - Default/History When Chrome launched after updating, bookmarks icons reverted back to the default page icon. Restarting Chrome again brought the previous icons back.

Relatedly, I think chrome:restart (or maybe "Relaunch" from chrome:chrome) failed on me one time (looks like it tried to run Chrome before the previous instance finished exiting). It failed by only exiting the browser and not launching it again, I mean.

The sentence "Restarting Chrome again brought the previous icons back." suggests to me that the failure was transient to the first launch after upgrade, which sounds like bug 665253. |
