Devtools show wrong line number for errors on jsfiddle/codepen/stackoverflow/jsbin etc... |
|||
Issue descriptionChrome Version: (61.0.3125.0 (Official Build) canary (64-bit) OS: macOS 10.12.5 (I assume this is not related to OS) What steps will reproduce the problem? (1) Go to https://jsfiddle.net/greggman/ehtozkun/ (2) Open the devtools (3) Click the error message note: you may have to click 'run' a 2nd time to see the issue. What is the expected result? Devtools goes to and highlines the line with the error What happens instead? Devtools goes somewhere else. Try the same in Safari/WebKit and it goes to the correct place. This has been a source of frustration for years. I wrote lots of snippets on stackoverflow and fiddles on JS fiddle and when there is an error it's often not easy to find and I end up having to add blank lines until I see the number not changes effectively bisecting my way to the line with the error. Fixing this issue could releave so much pain

@kozy - I can sometimes repro this issue. It seems like some times it doesn't map it to the HTML file properly and sometimes maps it as a VM## anonymous script.
