[Chrome Home] No tap feedback when tapping a Zine article

Project Member Reported by k...@chromium.org, Jun 8 2017

Issue description

When you tap a Zine article in Chrome Home, there is no feedback. We should show some feedback like we do with normal Chrome.

Yes, that makes sense. Bernhard - maybe someone on your team can help out with this?

What do you mean by "feedback"? We show a tap ripple the same way on both. Are you expecting something else?
Nope, that's right. Thanks Nicolas. Maybe it's just hard to see the ripple at the moment because we navigate directly? (This isn't something I'd want to change - just want to understand.)

Hey Kingston,
Can you help us understand this better? We're not sure that there's an issue here.

Can you provide details about device / version if you're not seeing any feedback?

Hi Rachel - yes, this is with regards to the tap ripple that you see on normal Chrome's NTP. However, I'm not sure if it's related to Chrome Home's lack of animation not giving enough time for a ripple effect.

I'm using a Pixel on Chrome Canary and I don't see a tap ripple effect when I tap on a Zine article in Chrome Home via swipe.
Thanks Kingston!

Would you be able to make a short video for us?

IMO this is just Chrome Home's animations. Long press and swipe show a ripple for me

Yeah looks like we just animate out before the ripple has a chance to show.

So better question would be: Do we want to animate out immediately when someone taps a Zine article or do we want to show the ripple animation to show some touch feedback?
I think it makes sense to err on the side of speedy responsiveness rather than slowing down to show the touch feedback. :)

I'm fine with that. Just wanted to make sure it was a deliberate decision :)
SG! :)
