Partial hostnames in panopticon.

A lot of our metrics list lab hostnames, but only the short name. Those names aren't enough to resolve in DNS, so it would be really useful if they contained one more level of the full domain name.

IE:
  chromeos-server35.cbf

Not:
  chromeos-server35

Though, the full name would be really unwieldy.
  chromeos-server35.cbf.corp.google.com

This behavior comes from ts_mon. I have been bothered by it too, but not enough to investigate deeply how to fix it.

They also have a "data_center" attribute,

so in your example data_center would be "cbf"
