Hi three, So this even happens on Chrome stable for Android. I visit this blog a lot (androidpolice.com) http://www.androidpolice.com/2017/06/09/android-o-feature-spotlight-wifi-cellular-status-bar-icons-switch-positions-order-restored/ 1) Visit that article 2) scroll down to the start of the comments 3) Look for the "login" button on the right 4) Click it 5) This brings a drop-down 6) Click log in with Disqus (or any of the services) 7) A new tab opens up briefly 8) Then it just immediately closes 9) This happens every time - I even tried on my mobile phone, normal stable chrome, still happens. https://goo.gl/photos/YQYMuYW4oX1rK5we8

Unable to reproduce this issue on Mac OS 10.12 using chrome latest stable #59.0.3071.86 by following steps mentioned in the comment #3. By clicking on Disqus button observed a page opened in a new tab and no crashes observed. obeyryan@ Thanks for the above steps, Are you able to reproduce this issue on incognito mode as well? If yes, could you please provide any sample crash ID's from the chrome://crashes for further investigation. Thanks!

It seems to work in incognito. Which would leave me to believe it's some sort of extension or plugin? But oddly, as I mentioned in my previous reply, I get the same experience on mobile chrome (non beta). I don't think extensions carry over to mobile chrome do they?

@ obeyryan: Thanks a lot for the feedback provided, Can you please try by creating a new profile and disabling the extensions. We tried again on chrome stable 59.0.3071.86 for MAC 10.12.5, Windows 10 and Ubuntu 14.04 and unable to reproduce it. Thanks.!

When i open guest mode (no extensions) it worked just fine. So I guess one of my extensions are the cause for this. I'm also on Version 60.0.3112.24 (Official Build) beta (64-bit) I'd have to disable all of them and kill the browser to test which ones, right?

Reloading the page should be enough. I'd try turning them off one by one to see if/when it starts working. You're right that extensions don't carry over to Android, which makes this interesting :). It's possible that this is specific to your Chrome profile (site settings?) but not an extension issue.

I tried turning them all off and nothing worked. I went into ://flags and reset to default to. I wonder what else it could be if it also does not work on mobile. I appreciate your help here so much too btw. Anything else you think I can do?

Could you check your cookie settings (chrome://settings/content/cookies)? This feels like the kind of thing that could be caused by "block third-party cookies" being turned on, or by cookie blocking for a specific site.

that setting is turned off. before submitting the bug report I even cleared cookies and data and history as this has worked before.

At this point, unless there's a strong sign that it's a Chrome bug, I think that Disqus is better suited to debug this… especially since it happens on stable too, and I can't find any other bug reports about this issue. I'm going to mark this bug as WontFix for now, but if you get any information from Disqus that suggests it's a Chrome problem, we can keep investigating! |
