Do you have any custom font settings in Chrome? The presentation is a mixture of SVG and I wonder if the min font size or different font size is influencing where the SVG gets drawn.

I can't repro on Mac 10.12 Retina with Chrome 59 or 61. Coujd you also tell us what hardware you are seeing this on, particularly HighDPI or not?

Hi guys, no I don't have any customs in Chrome. My hardware is a mac book pro retina, and I changed every size of the monitor. My business partner has the same machine and he doesn't have any problem of visualization. 2017-06-08 18:09 GMT+02:00 schen… via monorail < monorail+v2.2717106261@chromium.org>:

There is evidence that this only happens on your machine, so we'll try to help you figure out what's wrong. It's unlikely to be a widespread problem because many more people would be seeing the issue and reporting it. Is there some way to verify that you have the correct set of fonts installed? Could Font folks help with verifying that?

mcodik@, have you seen this problem before? Inspecting the main text rectangle/element on slide 6 only maps to an SVG path, which doesn't seem to be the text. Further down in the document I see a <script> snippet which contains the text of this slide, which has spaces, but I am not sure how it is drawn on the screen. Is it drawn as canvas? How could we reduce this further? Thanks for your help.

Tommaso, could you please check the following URL in the same browser where you initially experienced the problems: http://roettsch.es/slides_text_nolocal.svg What do you see there? Do you see different font weights (light, and bold, mixed) and do you see spaces there? Or do you see the same problems?

This example page was more or less identical to the Slides page, except that the font references were only pointing to web fonts, not point to the local Lato version. Can you check whether you have a local font "Lato" installed. You should be able to see this in the the FontBook app. Thanks for checking.

Hi, sorry for the late reply. Yes, I have the font Lato, installed in my Font Book app 2017-06-28 15:46 GMT+02:00 dr… via monorail < monorail+v2.4293160786@chromium.org>:

Does the original slides page start working when you delete or deactivate the Lato font in Font Book?
,

mmh, no. Lato font has been always installed in the font book 2017-07-05 10:31 GMT+02:00 dr… via monorail < monorail+v2.4293160786@chromium.org>:

What I meant: I don't think Lato comes preinstalled with mac OS, so it's a user-installed font. Font Book allows you to disable or remove user-installed fonts by right clicking on it, and selecting either "Disable" or "Remove" it. Could you try this with the Lato font you find in Font Book? Then restart Chrome and visit the problematic Google Slides URL again?

Ok, done. Now I see everything correct. Does it mean that now it's all ok? What was the problem? Now do you think I can't use Lato for example with Pages or Keynote, correct? 2017-07-05 13:50 GMT+02:00 dr… via monorail < monorail+v2.4293160786@chromium.org>:

In Chrome it's all okay now. The problem was in an older, defective version of the font that was locally installed on your system. Thank you for your patience and help in debugging this. You can download the latest version of Lato and install this on your system: https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Lato?selection.family=Lato - then you should be able to use it in native applications on Mac without seeing errors in Chrome. Closing as WontFix, as caused by a local buggy version of Lato.
