VR NTP page: Clicking 'More' under the recent bookmarks section triggers exiting VR |
||||||||||
Issue descriptionChrome Version: 60.0.3112.16 OS: Android VR Core: 1.6.156467194 What steps will reproduce the problem? (1) Enable Chrome VR flag (2) Make sure you are signed into Chrome with an account with a fair number of bookmarks (enough that they are not all listed in the NTP page and there is a "more" link at the bottom of the "Recent bookmarks" section) (3) Open the new tab page (NTP) (4) Place device in headset and pass DON flow => Page is displayed in VR browser (5) Scroll through section of "Recent Bookmarks" and click on the "more" link. What is the expected result? Should remain in VR browser mode. What happens instead? VR browser mode is exited.

I would really like to avoid applying more bandaids to the NTP if possible. In this case we would have to just disable that button because we can't support the bookmarks page in VR (it's a separate Activity). I'd much rather we prioritize re-implementing the native pages including NTP for VR.

We're going to implement a VR version of the NTP in some way. The 2D NTP for VR is going away.

NTP is currently visible in VR. mthiesse believes the user should now be asked to DOFF rather than immediately exited. vsupruniuk: Please verify this behavior and reopen if the user is not given the choice not to exit VR.

Verified this works on 66.0.3357.0, the user is prompted to leave VR. Not sure this is the right user experience but it works as described. Updated TestCase: "New Tab Page (NTP) - via Tab Manager" in the VR Browsing Manual Test Plan document at "https://docs.google.com/document/d/10_bPSRhFhj6QlAR8Q7fQy4H34EmQc0qrdU0iIUjkbqM/edit#
