No Did this work before? N/A Does this work in other browsers? N/A Chrome version: 58.0.3029.110 Channel: stable OS Version: Fedora 25 Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 25.0 r0 The problem is present even if experiments are disabled. The problem doesn't go away with a fresh profile. My default fonts are Liberation fonts, but the problem persists if I switch the defaults to DevaJu fonts. The problem is caused when the fontconfig configuration sets "hintstyle" to "hintfull". Removing that rule makes the problem go away. I also noticed that full hinting makes that webfont look bad even when not zoomed, but this is the first time I've noticed the fonts looking bad. The problem also goes away if I exclude whose family name contains "@font-face", but I'm not sure if that affects all fonts used by Chrome or just web fonts. Attached is an example ~/.config/fontconfig/fonts.conf file which causes the problem

This issue seems to be related to fonts configuration file related which is not possible to be triaged from TE-end. Hence, adding label TE-NeedsTriageHelp for further investigation. Requesting dev from Blink>Fonts team to have a look into this issue. Thanks...!!

Poorly hinted webfont, there really isn't much we can do about that I'm afraid.

The problem is gone under unstable 60.0.3112.10, so it can't just be a problem of poor hinting, unless unstable has a blacklisting of webfonts it refuses to hint or something. |
