Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Extraneous characters added to text field when typing when keyup event is defined and keyup event converts text field to uppercase
2.  element.value = element.value.toUpperCase();

What is the expected behavior?
only the characters typed should appear and they should be converted to uppercase
