Hosted document deleted when moved to Downloads |
||||||||||
Issue descriptionChrome Version: 61.0.3116.0, 58.0.3029.112 Steps To Reproduce: (1) Create a document at drive.google.com. (2) Find the file in the Files app. (3) Move it to Downloads by [Shift]+drag. (4) Move it back to My Drive. (5) See My Drive folder. Expected Result: The file is in the destination directory (My Drive) and accessible. As an alternative idea, step (3) should not be permitted in the first place. Actual Result: The file disappears. How frequently does this problem reproduce? (Always, sometimes, hard to reproduce?) 100% What is the impact to the user, and is there a workaround? If so, what is it? User can still find the file in trash (at drive.google.com) for 30 days. User can still find the file in trash by searching in the Files app. Opening it will guide the user to take it out of trash.

As we can see in https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=350776 hosted documents (Google document) copied to outside Google Drive should work as a pointer to the document (by creating a JSON file). Therefore operation (3) and (4) should be permitted.

The item will appear in My Drive right after the operation. So we'd need this additional steps to see it reproduce. (6) Open another folder and get back to My Drive (=refresh the file list view).

Now I think operation (3) should be blocked by the UI. I think it'd be at least counter-intuitive that the file is deleted when you move the file from My Drive to Downloads.

With DriveFS, it isn't possible to move hosted docs out of Drive (the copy part fails). |
