Today Chrome does not send Omaha the install ping after an extension is installed. Instead, Chrome sends Omaha an update check request with version 0.0.0.0, which Omaha then uses to infer that there was an install of this extensions (hence pseudo-install).
Omaha folks must do much maintenance and back-n-forth to ensure pseudo-installs are reflecting the correct information with respect to extension installations.
We should migrate to sending regular install pings instead of psuedo-installs to Omaha ping after an extension is installed.
Using regular install pings will simplify the installation ping flow and make implementation and code maintenance easier for the Omaha team.
