Chrome Canary WebView crashing in gmail

Chrome Version: 60.0.3109.0
OS: Android 7.1.2 pixel xl
Gmail version: 7.5.7 156101332 release

What steps will reproduce the problem?
(1) go to developer options and set chrome canary as webview
(2) open gmail app
(3) open email

What is the expected result?

Email opens

What happens instead?

Gmail crashes

There's an internal bug too with a crash log but can't get the bug number right now.

this is actually  issue 725788

This is fixed, it doesn't crash any more. However, emails now are not rendering because of  Issue 726629 .
