We are working on an experiment to request missing CVC from user in order to save a card on the server. While manual surveys show that ~ 94% of top 250 sites request CVC, our metrics show we fail to offer save because of missing CVC in ~ 33% of cases. One hypothesis is that we are failing to detect the CVC in a field that is marked as a CVC field. We have added a new metric (https://cs.chromium.org/chromium/src/components/autofill/core/browser/autofill_metrics.h?l=108&rcl=4dd065a3be8399b968ae44e93f1997254c173e84) that will tell us how often this happens and on what form URLs. In such cases, it may be useful to populate our user dialog with the value in the form. Ideally, we will also follow that up metrics on how often user edits the pre-populated CVC to a different value so we will know if the pre-population is useful.
