Installing with the MSI displays a dialog |
|||
Issue description
Chrome Version: 58.0.3029.110
OS: Win10
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1/ Double click chrome msi to install.
What is the expected result?
Chrome is installed.
What happens instead?
A dialog asking:
Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?
16118g.msi
At least the dialog says that Google Inc is the verified publisher.
Chrome does get installed correctly and works fine.

I'm fairly certain that the UAC prompt itself is unavoidable -- the installer requires admin rights. The only question is whether or not there's anything we can do to make it prettier.

Agreed. For example, I just installed python from msi on a machine. It also popped up a UAC dialog, but it said "Python 2.7.11" instead of a name like "16118b.msi".

As of 61.0.3163.29, official builds now say "Google Chrome Installer" rather than some random string. |
