--enable-color-correct-rendering renders text overlaying other items wrong

Reported by fhelmsch...@gmail.com, May 20 2017

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_12_4) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/59.0.3071.61 Safari/537.36

Example URL:
http://clever-oystercatcher.w4.poopy.life/wp-admin/

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Login to the URL given with Username: demo Password: 2v0YxmD31HCj
2. Head to any site with a blue button like http://clever-oystercatcher.w4.poopy.life/wp-admin/post-new.php
3. See the button text not rendering correct

What is the expected behavior?
The Text on the buttons should be white.

What went wrong?
The text doesn't render correct. This also happen on other sites (e.g. webflow.com but also in logged in area).

Though this problem can be seen in many different situation it is not a general problem of rendering text on buttons.

This only happens when chrome is launched with the --enable-color-correct-rendering flag.

Does it occur on multiple sites: Yes

Is it a problem with a plugin? No

Did this work before? N/A

Does this work in other browsers? Yes

Chrome version: 59.0.3071.61 Channel: beta
OS Version: OS X 10.12.4
Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 25.0 r0

I found a more, better accessible sample site, that shows the same issues:

https://www.deutschepost.de/de/d/dialogpost-manager.html (Text nearly completely dissappears)
Just another one to add where the text on the website renders in white on light grey background https://adespresso.com/academy/blog/lead-generation-facebook-ads-definitive-guide/ while it should be dark grey.

Could you plessse provide screen shots pf the correct an incorrect behavior? I'm not seeing any problem but it may depend on the monitor settings or some other step.
sure. Find some attached.

first one is from https://www.deutschepost.de/de/d/dialogpost-manager.html - you should see the intended behaviour if you visit the site.

The second one is from this site: https://adespresso.com/academy/blog/lead-generation-facebook-ads-definitive-guide/

At least in the second case I can see this is a problem caused by text-shadow overlaying the text color. As the text shadow is white it lets the text appear white. When I switch it off in the inspector the text suddenly gets colored right.

I couldn't find a general issue here but that seems to be at least one problem.

Ok, I did some more investigation on the other cases where similar problem appeared on buttons, in menus and on single elements on some sites. In every case I could find quickly the text-shadow waws the problematic part. It somehow seems to lay in front of the text coloring it in the color of the shadow.

Here's a quick recorded gif for the deutsche post website screenshot above: http://recordit.co/gIg8F8vdLq

I can't reproduce this in Chrome Canary but it does reproduce in M59 with the command line flag. I don't think we will merge a fix back to M59 for this. The feature is behind a command line flag so won't hit most users (there is not even a chrome://flags entry for it in M59).

fhelmschrott@, please verify that the issue does not appear in M60 Canary.

schenney@chromium.org sorry missed your post.

Definitely gone in M61 Canary so I agree it's not worth merging back.
