text-overflow: ellipsis not working

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. not sure how to reproduce, but i encountered.

text-ellipsis specification requires a couple of conditions to be met in order for the effect to be applied, so first make sure you've done it correctly, then post an updated and complete info required to reproduce the bug, or a jsfiddle example.
