Autofill does not trigger for credit expiration month and year with input_type="number"

Project Member Reported by csashi@google.com, May 18 2017

Issue description

Chrome Version: tip of head
O/S: All, except Linux.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
(1) Sign-in to Chrome
(2) Visit https://dump-truck.appspot.com/usecase-address_and_phone_and_cc_on_same_page_numpad_via_type_number/address_and_cc.html
(3) Click "Fill with Default values" and press "Submit"

What is the expected result?

Chrome should offer consent dialog to save the card. Further, Chrome should autofill the expiration month and year if a card is already saved and we want to fill the form.

What happens instead?

Chrome does not offer consent dialog to save the card. Further, Chrome does not autofill the expiration month and year.

If it is extremely unlikely that developers specify input_type="number" (instead usually choosing input_type="text" or a select list) we can close this bug as "works as intended".

FWIW, we were experimenting with input_type="number" to force a numeric keypad when user clicks on the form field. If input_type="text", a mobile phone shows an A-Z keypad (on English locales) for credit card number and also includes text suggestions such as "I", "I'm", "We" on top of the keyboard which clearly are not relevant for the credit card number field.
