Launching the Canary version of Chrome also launches the Stable Version

Reported by alihamze...@gmail.com, May 16 2017

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_12_4) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/60.0.3101.0 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Install Chrome Canary on a Mac that was previously running stable (without removing stable)
2. Launch Canary & sign in with the same Google account used in stable
3. Quit stable
4. Browse for a bit and stable will launch randomly.

Also:
1. Quit both browsers
2. Launch Canary and stable will also launch

What is the expected behavior?
Only Canary should remain open

What went wrong?
The stable version of Chrome opens alongside the Canary version.

Did this work before? Yes Not sure, it's been a while since I used Canary

Chrome version: 60.0.3101.0 Channel: canary
OS Version: OS X 10.12.4
Flash Version:

I disabled all extensions, restarted the Mac & relaunched both stable and Canary multiple times. I attached a short clip showing that clicking the Canary icon launches both versions. This is on a Macbook Pro 13-Inch Touch Bar running 10.12.4 (16E195)

Forgot to mention, Chrome stable version is 58.0.3029.110 (64-bit)
Just updated to Mac OS 10.12.5 (16F73) and it is still happening.

Hi,
No it doesn't happen anymore. I was able to isolate it to a 3rd party background app which was causing the behavior and I reported it to them. Quitting that app fixes the issue.
