When you have a lot tabs, the tabs in the tabstrip begin showing just the favicon of the site. That's good, but when you add a couple more you can get some tabs with favicon, some with text titles.
With more tabs all the tabs show just the tab title. Because only a small portion of that title can be displayed, you end up seeing little more than the first letter.
As you add more tabs you see just a portion of the title's first letter, and eventually the tab shows nothing.
We should opt for showing the favicon once the tab reaches a certain width and not try to show any text at or below that width. As the tab gets narrower it should always at least show a portion of the favicon - perhaps clipping it on either side.
Having so many tabs in a browser window is an extreme and perhaps unreasonable use case, but we should fail more gracefully than we do today.
