Extension crashes during onBeforeRequest with redirectURL (injected iframe, selenium)

Reported by markus.h...@gmail.com, May 15 2017

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/59.0.3071.47 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
Run test.js from https://github.com/markus-hartung-avira/extension-crash-bug

The extension will inject an iframe with an extension hosted source on every website and redirect requests to example.com to a extension hosted page.

The test executes the following steps:
1. Start chrome with the extension loaded
2. Go to www.example.org (where an iframe will be injected)
3. Go to www.example.com

What is the expected behavior?
The request to www.example.com should be redirected to the "redirect.html" page that is part of the extension

What went wrong?
The extension crashes and is disabled

WebStore page:

Did this work before? Yes

Chrome version: 59.0.3071.47 Channel: beta
OS Version: 10.0
Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 25.0 r0

Adding delays before naviagation doesn't have any effect.
Switching to a page where no iframe is injected first prevents the extension from crashing.
I could not reproduce this manually.

Tested this issue on Windows-10 using chrome latest beta M59-59.0.3071.47 by following steps mentioned in the original comment. Observed no crashes after step-3. Attaching scree-shot of the behavior from my end.

markus.hartung.avira@ Could you please let us know whether the crash is seen only on one tab or the whole browser? Please provide any crash ID's from chrome://crashes for further investigation.

Thanks!

Tab and browser are fine, the only thing that crashes is the extension.

I added a quick video of what happens and a dump from the Crashpad\reports folder. Let me know if you need anything more.

Did you actually run the test script or did you do the steps manually?
Because for me I can only reproduce it with the test script.
