Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/58.0.3029.96 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Go to Settings 2. Disconnect Your Google Account 3. What is the expected behavior? All Bookmarks and Passwords which I have saved locally (before I ever signed in to google with Chrome for the first time) would still be in the browser What went wrong? All Bookmarks and Passwords were wiped, deleted, not available for use after I disconnected my google account. Did this work before? N/A Chrome version: 58.0.3029.96 Channel: stable OS Version: 10.0 Flash Version: All of my bookmarks and passwords were created BEFORE I ever decided to allow google to sync them, so why does it get to wipe them out now if I choose not to be logged in ?, its a cheap bullying method of forcing us to log in, but they have no right wiping out data that was stored locally before I ever signed in, and in any case should we not get a say in what is wiped when signed out ?. This approach is just going to make customers who do not wish to be so rail roaded to just avoid using the sync option in the first place, and never use it again.

I'm sorry to hear that you had such a negative experience. That sucks. For most accounts, it shouldn't work this way. If you go to the settings page and click on the "Disconnect your Google Account" button, you should see a popup that has a checkbox that has the text (at least for English UI) "Also clear your history, bookmarks, settings, and other Chrome data stored on this device." This checkbox is unchecked by default, and if you leave it unchecked, all your bookmarks, passwords, etc should remain part of your Chrome profile. If you checked this box when you didn't mean to, this is the expected behavior, however, it's easy to undo if you previously had sync enabled. You can simply sign back in, enable sync to download all your data, and then sign-out but make sure you don't check this box. After that you'll be signed-out with all your data! Now, if you're using a "managed" account, this is like where a business creates accounts for each of it's employees, see https://support.google.com/work/android/answer/6371476?hl=en , things work differently. Signing out does remove the profile. We've tried to make sure our UI is explicit about what's going to happen, it should warn you as you sign-in and sign-out. I don't believe it matters if you ever enabled sync for a managed account, it's always cleared on disconnect. I'd be happy to talk about changes to the wording if you think either sign-in or sign-out dialogs for managed accounts could use some updating. I'm going to close this as working as intended, but if I misunderstood something or you think a particular dialog's text is misleading, please reopen.

Embarrassed facepalm : Happy to close, you are correct there is a check box which is off by default, I checked it half awake thinking "yeah I know this flushes out history and stuff" .. Only the 'and stuff' I should have paid a bit more attention to :) Could the Check box wording be made bold for the items that will be cleared ? "Also clear your HISTORY, BOOKMARKS, SETTINGS and other Chrome data on this device" And add more check boxes for individual items to clear "Clear your BOOKMARKS on this device" "Clear your SETTINGS on this device" "Clear your HISTORY on this device" "Clear other Data on this device" Having individual choices would also make you slow down and think about it a little more And every time I wish to log out, I would want to delete History, but keep my Bookmarks, Settings (maybe not 'Other Data' if I knew what that meant)
