Sometimes, Pixel 2 boots up with an unresponsive touchpad, though physical clicks on the pad still work. The problem is present at the login screen, and logging in/out has no effect.

After powering the device on/off, the touchpad everything is back to normal.

I've now this three times on two different Pixel 2's, and had a teammate report seeing the same thing.
