IMG tag element onclick event does not fire

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/58.0.3029.81 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. In the web page add this element: <img id="bodyPnl_CallbackPanel_PageControl_ATTC1_closeTabBtn_2584_1" class="tab_close" onclick="LGR.BD.MainPage.RemoveTab(null, null); return false;" onmouseover="this.style.cursor = 'pointer'" src="Images/cancel.png" style="height: 12px; width: 12px; cursor: pointer;">
2. Access web page
3. Click on the image

What is the expected behavior?
The onclick javascript method should fire.

What went wrong?
The event does not fire.
