First digit is not reproduced from VoiceOver in Chrome

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_11_3) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/59.0.3071.29 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Enable VoiceOver on MAC
2. Go to www.google.it
3. type some number in search bar

What is the expected behavior?
VoiceOver reproduces all the digit

What went wrong?
VoiceOver doesn't reproduces the first digit (it works on Safari)

Did this work before? N/A 

Chrome version: 59.0.3071.29  Channel: n/a
OS Version: OS X 10.11.3
Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 25.0 r0

Elly can you take a look? I checked on ChromeOS and everything works as expected (and similar to Safari.) On Mac, I can barely get it to read anything, instead it reads out style details (font size etc.) and informs me I'm in a combo box.

nektarios is looking at some other combobox deficiencies I think.
Could you reproduce the issue with my hints ?
