@baudav:

Could you please navigate to chrome://flags and disable the
"Enable Material Design settings" and relaunch the chrome to see the old UI of chrome://settings

Please find the below screenshot to change the settings in chrome://flags, and let us know the behavior.

OK, it's better. Material design is very bad for PC! How many time can switch to old UI ?
I do not understand why this switch to a tablet interface while I still use the mouse. New UI is very bad.. Impossible to easily manage exception lists.
The next chrome is dedicated to tablets only?

The appearance should be managed by the themes and not imposed a horrible style, not optimized for PC / mouse and not using the size of the PC screen.
Status: WontFix (was: Unconfirmed)
We are updating Chrome and the various chrome:// pages to Material Design. If you have specific concerns about these changes (eg. font rendering, whitespace, etc) please file bugs / feature requests specific to those. For instance, we already have Issue 628247 to have the sidenav open by default, and the fonts issue you mentioned (Issue 244997) is separate from the switch to MD Settings.
