Create a New Category for Feedback Sent From "Aw Snap" Page |
|||||
Issue descriptionBackground: We plan to only process those feedback reports sent from the "Aw, Snap!" page for crash/bugs update. Potential solution: If we can add a category into feedback reports, for example, "aw_snap_page", "help_report_an_issue", "short_cut" etc., then on the back end, we would be able to know where the reports came from and only process those sent from the "Aw, Snap!" page.

The Feedback reports filed from the "Aw, Snap!" page are already sent with Category="Crash" [https://cs.chromium.org/chromium/src/chrome/browser/ui/sad_tab.cc?type=cs&q=SadTab::PerformAction&l=166] Did you want to change that value?

I think that should be sufficient, hzl@, no?

If this is sufficient. I will mark this as WontFix. Please reopen if otherwise.

Thank you Ahmed for figuring this out for us for ChromeBrowser. But for feedback reports sent from ChromeMobile (since they have two feedback systems), there is no specific category for feedback sent from "Aw, Snap" page yet. In short, ChromeBrowser is fixed, but ChromeMobile is not.

Just making sure, @afakhry, is this new category/bucket of 'crash' also included for ChromeOS?

Yes. All reports from the aw snap page should be under bucket: Crash.

I just double checked. For user initiated feedbacks sent from ChromeMobile, they are separated into buckets like UserFeedback-Beta, UserFeedback-Blimp, UserFeedback-Canary, UserFeedback-Dev, UserFeedback-iOS. No specific bucket/category to show where they are from, either from "report an issue" or "send feedback" on aw snap page.
