Incognito tabs not restored after app upgrade

Reported by justm...@amazon.com, Apr 24 2017

Issue description

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Install older version of Chrome
2. Open Incognito tab(s)
3. Put Chrome in background
4. Upgrade Chrome app
5. Open Chrome

What is the expected behavior?
Incognito tabs to restore.

What went wrong?
Incognito tabs are lost.

Did this work before? N/A

Chrome version: 58.0.3029.70 Channel: beta
OS Version: 6.0.1
Flash Version:

This behavior seems to stem from Chromium storing the cipher keys used to encrypt relevant restoration data within the Android bundle. Has there been any discussion around supporting the restoration of incognito tabs after an app upgrade?

This is expected behavior - Not restore the incognito tabs after upgrade.

+privacy team to confirm that Incognito is not supposed to survive restart (in particular restart for upgrade).

Sorry for the delay, but yes, this is the desired behavior. Incognito tabs' data is only kept in memory, and they don't survive restart.
