video preload="none" should show play overlay button on desktop |
|||||||
Issue descriptionChrome Version : 59.0.3070.0 OS Version: 9469.0.0 URLs (if applicable) : https://googlechrome.github.io/samples/media-session/video.html It would be nice for consistency that Desktop Safari and Chrome would render a play overlay button on <video preload="none">. As you can see in screenshots below, Chrome shows a visually broken video controls bar while Safari shows a big play overlay button. I believe* Chrome should do the same there.

For info, Chrome controls bar play button is 32x32 (smallish) while Safari play overlay button is 70x70 (bigger)

I think it would make sense to do something like this. +rachelis@, +dahlke@, any concerns?

+amyroberts I agree the preload experience is sub-optimal. We are considering that closely as part of our broader redesign. Rather than do something now, let's wait for that process to finish.
