Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:53.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/53.0 Steps to reproduce the problem: chrome.tabs.onUpdated is fired only for tabs and there is no event when frame URL is updated. What is the expected behavior? I propose adding new API chrome.frames.onUpdated which will be fired on frame update similar to tab update. It is possible to use chrome.webNavigation.getFrame to get frame URL , but it seems to be less optimal since frame URLs don't change too often. What went wrong? Impossible to get notifications of current URL in frame. Did this work before? N/A Does this work in other browsers? N/A Chrome version: 58 Channel: stable OS Version: 10.0 Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 25.0 r0

There is no issue , you can close it. It was not clear from documentation what the events mean. onhashchange in content == onReferenceFragmentUpdated in background. I popstate in content == onReferenceFragmentUpdated in background.
